Manor Farm

The 15th-century Manor Farm House and the Little Barn circa 1600 have also undergone sensitive repair and restoration with improved access for all.

The Manor Farm complex forms a vibrant facility, including a thriving library, performance hall, interpretation centre, craft workshops, and community café. We have preserved and disseminated the heritage value of the site, increasing its role as a local community attraction.

Owned by the London Borough of Hillingdon, the 22-acre site at Manor Farm has been converted into a Heritage Centre in the heart of Ruislip. Work included the restoration of the 13th Century Grade II* Great Barn, considered to be one of the largest and most outstanding early timber-framed aisled barns in South East England. The Great Barn is a 120-foot-long and 32-foot-wide aisled barn with oak posts originating from Ruislip Woods, a historic joinery, and a refurbished stone floor. The Manor Farm Visitor Centre is housed in a high-status Grade II listed Tudor building, with many original features remaining, including one of the oldest examples of domestic wallpaper still to remain on its original wall in England.

Acting in the role of Lead Consultant, WWA directly engaged other conservation specialists and worked closely with English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund, whose grant assistance was crucial to delivering the project.

The project was awarded Bronze in the International Green Apple Awards, which recognise, reward, and promote environmental best practices around the world.
