Eden House

Eden House, which was completed in September 2019, is an exciting development offering a variety of one- and two-bedroom Shared Ownership homes for individuals, couples, and young families in the London Borough of Hounslow. The project was undertaken as a joint venture between EcoWorld International and Lampton 360, a wholly owned subsidiary of London Borough of Hounslow, who employed WWA as their architects for the scheme. Shared Ownership is a scheme backed by the UK government to help aspiring buyers purchase a share of a a property while paying subsidised rent on the remaining portion – you can read more about it via this link to the Share To Buy Website.

The eight-storey scheme has been designed to provide every spacious apartment with its own balcony and shared access to a garden. The scheme also provides 4000 sq ft of community space at ground floor level. Post planning, the duration of the project was two years, achieving completion in August 2019 with a contract value of approximately £20 million.

The shared ownership development successfully forms part of the Hounslow Town Centre Regeneration Masterplan.  It has replaced the disused Nantly House with a new eight-storey building comprising a ground floor commercial unit and 75 one, two and three-bed spacious apartments to meet local housing requirements.  To respond to the surrounding context, the building cascades down with two colours of brick, grey window frames and panelled balconies to break up the mass.

Due to its proximity to a London Underground station and local bus routes the scheme has been designed as a ‘no car ownership’ scheme to discourage car use in London which is a major pollutant. The exception to this is eight disabled only parking spaces which have been provided for use by blue badge holders. There is bicycle storage for 140 cycles and a small storage area for mobility scooters to encourage sustainable methods of transport. It was envisaged that the end users would be keen on urban dwelling and use either public transport or cycle for their daily commute.
