Long Hanborough Surgery – “Hailed a success”

The new WWA-designed healthcare facility at Long Hanborough is in operation and proving to be popular in its design by staff and residents alike.

In an article for B-4Business.com Dr Neil Rust said “The previous surgery was built in the 1960s. The new surgery has meant the patients arrive happy and come in enriched by the space and amazed by the transformation we have seen,”

The Practice Manager Tracy Girvan said, “The new surgery has benefited staff morale because we came from a small old building and to come into somewhere spacious, light and bright has really lifted people’s spirits.”

WWA Studios designed the new Doctor’s Surgery and Pharmacy at Long Hanborough as part of a section 106 agreement in association with the construction of 169 homes. WWA achieved consent for the masterplan several years ago, and the now built-out development equates to a 16% increase in the local population.

Through engaging with residents, the existing doctor’s surgery and primary school, we were able to identify the community facilities which would need to be improved. These included providing a new larger doctor surgery with improved parking and a playing field for the local school.

This project stands as an example of the interdisciplinary nature of WWA, we were able to apply our skill sets across masterplanning, right down to the technical design of this specialist facility to make this essential public amenity a reality.
