What do you Zinc of this? Progress at LWC

Great to see the zinc cladding at Lord Wandsworth College’s new science block beginning to be revealed from beneath its protective wrapping. This project has taken a good deal of work from the entire design team and the contractor, so it is wonderful to see the result of everyone’s efforts taking shape. The zinc cladding itself looks fantastic and it has been incredibly exciting to see a traditional craft being applied to contemporary detailing so successfully.

The unique architecture of the science block has been a real challenge so far, which makes seeing the building begin to take shape all the more rewarding. Very soon the large expanses of planar glazing, including some non-vertical sections, will be coming to site and will undoubtedly further transform the emerging building. Meanwhile as the internal partitions are being closed up the individual teaching and support spaces are really taking shape. It is such a privilege to be playing a part in the delivery of such a unique, 21st Century teaching facility.

The zinc in this project is supplied by VM zinc, details of which can be found here. WWA have been working with Lord Wandsworth College over a long period to conceive a masterplan and deliver key phases of development. The Science block is an exciting addition that will give students a first class and future proof facility to enjoy for generations of students to come.
