WINTERBOURNE MEDIEVAL BARN

We have completed conservation and refurbishment works at Winterbourne Medieval Barn near Bristol.  The Grade II* listed barn dates from 1342 and is of national importance as a rare survivor of the medieval agrarian economy.

The work has revitalised the barn and adjoining buildings at the site as a local heritage centre promoting the knowledge of medieval history, its architecture, agricultural landscape and people, and providing use as flexible facilities for the wider community.

The project on behalf of the Winterbourne Medieval Barn Trust and South Gloucestershire Council has been supported by Heritage Lottery funding.  WWA and main contractor, Corbel Conservation, have successfully delivered this project on time and on budget, a significant achievement given the complexities of this heritage project.

The formal public opening of the site has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak but is planned to be rescheduled for the summer.
