Winterbourne Barns Opening Night

We were delighted to see the transformation of the Winterbourne Medieval Barns at the official opening night earlier this month. We worked closely with South Gloucestershire Council, Winterbourne Medieval Barn Trust and The National Lottery Heritage Fund to reconfigure and revitalise the Grade II* Listed 14th-century barn and associated outbuildings from the initial brief development stage through to practical completion and client occupation. These works help ensure the long-term sustainability of this significant heritage asset by placing it at the heart of the local community.

The proposals included a wide range of sensitive alteration and conservation works to provide excellent facilities enabling the complex to be used as a venue for income-generating events and to help support an exciting educational programme at the site. A new ‘glazed link’ was constructed to connect the most historic ranges and provide space for ‘interpretive displays’ to increase awareness and understanding of the buildings to the wider audience. To the north, the existing Cow Byre Range was also extended forming a series of lettable units for local craft businesses to further support the long-term sustainability of the site. The works were completed with a carefully considered schedule of external works improving access across the site and improving the setting of the heritage assets.

After all the hard work by the Design Team & Contractor it was great to see the venue finally in occupation ‘post-covid’ – why not sign up for an event and see for yourself?
